Why So Cheap — The NobodyBuy Breakdown.

Every near-zero listing on NobodyBuy comes with a documented reason it's discounted, not a mystery markdown. This is how we annotate it.

Catalog refreshed 9:42 AM CT from 380+ liquidation sources. No guesswork, no buried footnotes.

The Four Annotations

Every listing carries four data points — and nothing is left to the imagination.

A NobodyBuy listing isn't a price tag. It's a dossier. Before you click through to a liquidation partner, you already know exactly why the item is sitting at near-zero — and what the catch is, if there is one.

  1. 01

    Defect Grade

A retail-style condition code — A-grade (manifested new, original packaging), B-grade (open-box or minor cosmetic), C-grade (functional but visibly distressed), or salvage (parts/repair only). We never round this up.

  2. 02

    Channel

Where the inventory actually came from: returns, customer cancellations, end-of-season buyback, store-closure, insurance salvage, or importer overstock. The channel tells you how the defect happened — and how often it tends to happen.

  3. 03

    Exit Reason

The business reason the seller dumped it: discontinued SKU, expired listing window, shelf-space eviction, or a hard sell-through deadline. We surface this because "liquidation" isn't a single thing — and the exit reason drives your risk profile.

  4. 04

    Manifest Type

Whether the unit is sold individually, in a manifested mixed pallet, or as an unmanifested bulk lot — plus pallet size, FBA-ready flags, and whether a category specialist has personally audited the manifest.

A real card, annotated the way you'll see it on the site.

Every NobodyBuy listing card carries the four annotations on the front of the page — not buried in a footnote, not behind a second click. Hover any field for the curator's plain-language note.

Of the top 100 Manifest 2024 liquidation buyers use NobodyBuy

Resellers vetting pallets before they bid. If our defect grade is wrong, they lose money — so they check first.

Press · The Atlantic, March 2024

“The discounts aren't the differentiator — anyone can scrape a clearance feed. What's unusual about NobodyBuy is that they tell you, on the same page, exactly why the price is what it is. For a category built on opacity, that editorial discipline is almost radical.”

Who's Reading The Breakdown

Three audiences, one methodology — used three different ways.

The annotations are not a researcher's indulgence. They change the decision each reader makes before they click through.

01

The Bargain Hunter

Looking for a $9 air fryer that works. Reads the defect grade to confirm it's not salvage, glances at the exit reason to make sure it's not a recall, and clicks through. Saves an audited $1,847 per household per year without becoming a reseller.

02

The Reseller

Bidding on pallets, vetting manifests, sizing up defect distribution. Uses Channel + Manifest Type + the curator's note to decide whether to bid at $0.40 on the dollar or pass. Forty-seven of the Manifest 2024 top 100 buyers do this daily.

03

The Boutique Store Owner

Sourcing for a small storefront, an Etsy shop, or a pop-up. Uses the FBA-ready flag and exit reason to filter for inventory they can actually merchandise. Treats NobodyBuy as a sourcing desk, not a clearance aisle.
